General Info

Tucked away at 1층, 46-3 Teheran-ro 81-gil, Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea, Jeonu Sogogi Haejangguk feels like the kind of Korean restaurant you stumble upon once and then keep returning to. The location sits in a lively part of Gangnam, yet the atmosphere inside is relaxed and welcoming, making it a comfortable stop for dinner with friends, coworkers, or small groups.

The menu focuses on classic Korean comfort food, and the house specialty, 소고기해장국, is clearly the heart of the kitchen. This beef soup is deeply satisfying, especially in the evening after a long day around the city. The broth tastes rich and warming, and the dish arrives hot enough to keep you lingering over the bowl. It’s easy to see why regular diners mention it frequently in reviews.

Another standout on the menu is 머리고기곰탕, a hearty Korean soup known for its depth of flavor. The dish has a clean yet robust broth that pairs well with the simple side dishes that arrive at the table. Speaking of sides, the 깍두기 here lands solidly in the “reliable” category. It’s crisp, balanced, and refreshing enough to complement the heavier soups without overpowering them.

If you want to try something different from soup, the Potato Pancake is worth ordering for the table. The texture is pleasantly crispy on the outside while staying soft inside, making it a great shared plate when dining with groups. It adds a bit of variety to the meal and pairs nicely with the savory items on the menu.

For those who appreciate seasonal Korean noodles, 콩국수진품 also deserves attention. This soy-based noodle dish brings a lighter option to the lineup, creating balance on a menu that otherwise leans toward hearty comfort food.

Service at Jeonu Sogogi Haejangguk is straightforward and convenient. Delivery is available for those who prefer to enjoy the dishes at home, and the restaurant works well for dinner plans, especially when meeting friends or coworkers. The space also includes a wheelchair accessible parking lot, which adds a practical touch for visitors driving in.

Overall, the restaurant keeps things simple: a focused menu, dependable flavors, and a casual Gangnam location that makes it easy to stop by. Whether you’re exploring Korean soup dishes for the first time or returning for a familiar bowl of Jeonu Sogogi Haejangguk, the experience feels satisfying and comfortably authentic.

“ Amazing beef soup served with rice. Can totally agree with the other high ratings. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ”

“ Great authentic local food. Owners are super nice and the male owner can speak english. They only have a few items on the menu. We tried numbers 1 and 2 plus the potato pancake. Extra nice service especially to kids! Genuinely nice people that made our experience memorable aside from the really good and affordable food! They even bought snacks for our children and stayed to chat. ”

“ Came for breakfast. Morning menu only beef soup and cold mung bean noodles. Takes credit cards. Boss guy speaks English better than my Korean and gave us an English menu. Spicy beef soup is great. I think it must be some sort of hangover soup. About SGD 10 each. ”

“ The spicy beef soup and kimchi were delicious and hearty! I came early for dinner on Friday and had the shaded balcony to myself. The owner was also very kind and patient. A healing meal after a busy week! ”

“ This little place is a little hidden and the gps drifts like crazy. Left a video in the review for some help in referencing. Can always walk here aft Coex. Quaint little place. Oppa of the place speaks English, but actually the menu consist of only main dish, spicy and non spicy beef soup. Friend who doesn't take beef, took potato pancake. The beef soup spicy / non spicy is worth every cent as there is a mixed variety of beef parts, generous serving of bean sprouts. There is likely nthg else besides beef soup spicy and non spicy. No pork or chicken so don't come expecting one. As the beef soup is v valued, the potato pancake will pale in price and taste. Soft and just soft ... suitable for kids. Place is free by locals. Hidden in an alley. As it was a cool day ard 10-15degree, the windows that were left open allowed constant breeze in. In hotter days, I am not too sure if there's aircon. But if just for a bowl of beef soup, then leave, no aircon also fine. Staff is friendly. Service is fast. Atmosphere is ok. Left menu, front, side and diagonal facade of place for u to id easier. Walk inwards to find. Not directly along the street. Got to walk short way in. Worth a try for a local experience and cuisine. ”

“ Came to this place by following google map reviews. Arrived in the mid-afternoon for a late lunch, and it was quite empty. Staff do not speak English at all and there was no English menu so we relied on google translate images to see the menu on the board. Ordered beef hangover soup. It was so good! The beef broth was light and flavourful. The beef meat and tripe etc were all very well-prepared with no overcooking and no beefy smell. The kimchi was freshly made and super good. It was a big portion for 10,000won. Totally worth it! ”

“ This shop only serves beef soup- spicy and non spicy version. Non spicy comes with beef slices and the spicy one comes with the whole package innards and all. Super delish and reasonably priced- even the innards were well cleaned with no funky smell or taste. I especially liked the mung bean pancake. Super traditional tasting- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The shop is a little hard to find but you can look out for the sign in the picture to help you. Owner speaks fluent English and is super helpful! ”

“ Mostly local. The spicy beef soup is good value. The mung bean pancake is quite different from others. Its a big pancake so sharing is good. ”
